Complementing the Wake Forest coaching staff is an impressive group of additional coaches and players. In recent years, England, Germany, Ireland, and New Zealand have all been represented through members of our coaching staff. Collegiate coaches from around the NCAA further add to the diverse and experienced coaching staff. In addition, most of the current players on the Wake Forest team serve not only as coaches but as mentors for young campers. |
CUTTING EDGE CURRICULUM |
Campers will be exposed to the most current technical and tactical skills required to excel in today’s game, as well as topics like sports psychology and video analysis. At Wake Forest we believe in teaching from small to big. Therefore each day of camp concepts and themes will be introduced first on an individual level during the first session of the day. This may include things such as new passing techniques, intricate elimination moves, or individual defensive skills. In the next session, those skills will be further entwined into the day’s theme by working in small groups to apply the skills into modified playing situations. These sessions will involve a lot of competitions and re-emphasize how these skills and concepts lead to winning. Lastly full-field scrimmages will bring coaching points full-circle and will allow for open play and player experimentation. No two sessions will be alike. Drills and games will be fresh and adapted from the best clubs and programs around the world. Campers will not only benefit from on-field instruction but will also be exposed to film sessions, tactical meetings, and weight room activities, just like a true Division I athlete experience. |
TEAMS & INDIVIDUALS OF ALL SKILL LEVELS |
Whether you are a beginner to the sport or have been playing for years, all players will fit comfortably into our flexible curriculum and grow in their own skill sets. Players and teams will be distributed into appropriate groups based on age and skill level. All drills and games will be tailored to meet the exact needs and abilities of each group. Scrimmages will be played against as evenly matched teams as possible to assure competitive contests. As camp progresses groups will be adjusted as needed. All coaches on staff are accustomed to working with players from beginner to advanced, and will make the camp experience equally beneficial for all players. |
FUN & POSITIVE ENVIRONMENT |
Our main priority is to create an exciting, enjoyable experience for all players and teams in an environment that promotes a love of the game. The Wake Hockey coaching staff is full of energy and ready to make camp the most fun you’ll ever have playing field hockey. Boring drills are not our style. We teach using exciting games and competitions as much as possible. Throughout camp, players are encouraged to engage in hockey dialogue with their teammates and coaches. All ideas and questions are heard out and appreciated! And don’t forget about our infamous Skit Night!! If you’re looking to become the best player possible while also having a blast, Wake Forest Field Hockey camps are the place for you. |
